PURPOSE: A shock absorber for a vehicle with a damping force control unit is provided to vary the damping force of the shock absorber by increasing and decreasing the area of an oil passage while converting the vertical movement of a piston rod by load transmitted from the outside into rotational force. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorber for a vehicle with a damping force control unit has a varying unit(10) dividing the inside of a cylinder(2) into upper and lower pressure chambers at the end of a piston rod(3) disposed in the cylinder. The varying unit comprises a fixed orifice(11) fixed to the end of the piston rod and a rotary orifice(12) overlapped with the fixed orifice. The rotary orifice forms an oil passage to move oil filled in the upper and lower pressure chambers by rotating while moving along the piston rod.
