PURPOSE: A motion picture decoder and a display method using the motion picture decoder are provided to magnify an image block including a lip of a user's face to allow a deaf person to read the lip. CONSTITUTION: A motion picture decoder includes a buffer(21) for temporarily storing a bit stream, a variable-length-decoder(23) for decoding the stored bit stream, an inverse quantizer(27) for inverse-quantizing the decoded signal, and an inverse-discrete- cosine-transformer(29) for inverse-discrete-cosine-transforming the inverse-quantized signal to reproduce an image. The motion picture decoder further includes an extension region selector(36) for selecting a region a user wants to extend from the restored image, a selected region extension unit(37) for extending the selected region, a motion compensator(32) for compensating a motion vector in the reproduced image, a display(40) for displaying the extended image or the image reproduced by the inverse-discrete-cosine-transformer, and a video frame memory(35) for storing previous images displayed on the display. |
