PURPOSE: An in-plane switching(IPS) mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof is provided to make the direct current component stacked to the outermost common electrode discharge rapidly by forming a dummy common electrode, on a pixel electrode forming layer identically, within the outermost pixel region and connecting the dummy common electrode to a common electrode, and minimize an afterimage effect, thereby reducing a badness ratio. CONSTITUTION: A gate wire having a gate electrode(104) and a common wire having a common electrode(105) are formed on a substrate(111). Thereafter, a gate insulation film(112), an active layer, and an ohmic contact layer are sequentially formed on the entire surface of the substrate(111), thereby forming an active layer of a thin film transistor. A data wire(102), a source electrode and a drain electrode are formed on the substrate(111). A passivation film(113) is formed on the entire surface of the substrate(111) including the data wire(102). A predetermined portion of the drain electrode is exposed, thereby forming a contact hole(114). A dummy common electrode(110) is electrically connected to the outermost common electrode(105).
