A sintered compact for thermistor element, comprising Sr, Y, Mn, Al, Fe and O, wherein not only respective crystal phases of perovskite oxide and garnet oxide but also a crystal phase of at least one of Sr-Al oxide and Sr-Fe oxide is contained. In analyses by powder X-ray diffractometry, FeYO3 and/or AlYO3 is identified as the perovskite oxide, and at least one member selected from among Y3Al5O12, Al2Fe3Y3O12 and Al3Fe2Y3O12 is identified as the garnet oxide.
