<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase exhaust purification performance by greatly widening a range in which an exhaust gas flow becomes turbulent within cell passages without reducing the durability of the cells in a metal catalyst carrier using an almost cylindrical core formed by multiply winding wavy sheets and flat sheets of metal thin sheets on the outer circumference of a winding stem in such a manner that they are alternatively stacked, and thereafter pulling out the winding stem. <P>SOLUTION: Alternatively stacked wavy sheets 11 and flat sheets 12 are wound round a winding stem 4 so that the flat sheets 12 are located on the insides, and the winding stem 4 is thereafter pulled out to form an almost cylindrical core 1. A plurality of holes 11a are formed at optional intervals on the wavy sheets 11. A plurality of holes 12a are formed at optional intervals on the flat sheets 12 excepting the flat sheet parts (non-hole parts a) composing the inner circumferential faces of the almost cylindrical core 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
