PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-resistant organic clay which does not discolor a resin even when the organic clay is kneaded with the resin at temperature as high as≥150°C and which is easily dispersible, and to provide a method for manufacturing the clay. SOLUTION: The heat-resistant organic clay is produced by compounding an antioxidant into the interlayer spaces of crystal layers. Practically, an antioxidant preliminarily dissolved in an organic solvent is added and mixed with the organic clay in a half-dried state, or a mixture of organic cation and an antioxidant dissolved in an organic solvent is added and mixed with a clay-water dispersion liquid, and then dried and pulverized. Or, a silane compound is directly added together with the antioxidant, or a silane compound dissolved in an alcohol such as methanol, ethanol and isopropylalcohol or an organic solvent such as acetone is added together with the antioxidant to the organic clay in a half-dry state, mixed, dried and pulverized to produce the organic clay of the purpose.
