PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a noise suppression device which can suppress only noise components at a low cost even if a total pixel reading-out image pickup element is used. SOLUTION: The noise suppression device is provided with a PS-CCD 10 which is the total pixel reading-out image pickup element, a pre-processing part 12, a line memory 13 to store CCD signals from the PS-CCD converted into digital signals at the pre-processing part 12 and to divide them into target pixel value signals and neighborhood pixel value signals in a noise extracting range, a correction circuit 11, and a subtractor 14. An average value of the neighborhood pixel value signals from the line memory 13 is obtained by the correction circuit 11. As a result, noise component signals using the neighborhood pixel value signals are outputted. The noise component signals and a threshold value are compared. When the threshold value is larger, the noise components are outputted to the subtractor 14. When the threshold value is smaller, "0" is outputted to the subtractor 14. That is to say, when the threshold value is larger, the noise components of the target pixel signals are eliminated with the noise components of the neighborhood pixel and they are inputted to a signal processing part 15.
