PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and a communication method which can reduce a processing burden of a host and a network load. SOLUTION: A packet parser 13 is provided between a network interface card 12 and the host 11 (a reception processing part). The packet parser 13 executes header analysis of the received packet and it determines the protocol of the packet. When the determined result is an important packet, the packet parser 13 notifies the host 11 of the reception (interruption) unconditionally, that is to say, so as to preferentially execute reception processing. When it is an un-important packet, interruption is executed, for example, after a data amount exceeds a setting value.
