PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element using a material with a high glass-transition temperature and excellent coating characteristics having a high fluorescence and a high electron transport property for forming an optical element such as the organic electroluminescent element emitting light in high brightness in various degrees of chromaticity. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has an anode, at least one organic layer, and a cathode laminated in that order on a substrate, of which, the organic layer contains a metal complex having a specific ligand.
