Multi-purpose industrial pressure release safety valve has return spring with a degressive pressure operating profile

An industrial pressure-relief safety valve (1) opens in response to excess pressure. In normal closed operation the valve is held closed by a spring (15) with a degressive pressure profile, reducing the force necessary to hold the valve open as the opening process advances. The arrangement minimises the e.g. magnetic (9) force necessary to keep the valve open.
