PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cogeneration apparatus which can optimize an overall efficiency or suppressing of the discharge of an injurious substance by managing an amount of supplying fuel to various type operating conditions, and to provide a method for controlling the same. SOLUTION: The cogeneration apparatus 100 includes an amount-of-heat demand setting means 103 for setting the predetermined value of an amount of heat demand, an effective heat output detecting means 104, and an overall efficiency arithmetic means 107. The absolute amount of each fuel in which the overall efficiency of the cogeneration is optimized, is calculated under the conditions for satisfying the set amount of the heat demand based on the set value, the detected value and the calculated result of the means 103, 104 and 107 by an optimizing arithmetic means 105. Thus, each amount of the supplying fuel is automatically regulated based on the calculated result. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
