PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ropeway's carrier position detecting system which can detect the position of the carrier. SOLUTION: This ropeway's carrier position detecting system has a means which detects the position of the carrier (12-i) which is used for a ropeway. In this case, for the ropeway, the carrier (12-i, in this case i is a natural number) which carries people to a first rope (6) is attached and moved. The carrier is transferred to second ropes (7 to 10) which move at a lower speed than the first rope (6) from the first rope (6) by first transfer devices (40-4 to 40-9), and the carrier (12-i) is transferred from the second ropes (7 to 10) to the first rope (6) by second transfer devices (40-5, 40-7, 40-10 and 40-1). In addition, this system is equipped with an ID tag (20-i) which is attached to the carrier (12-i) and stores the identification information of the carrier (12-i), a reading device (30-i) which reads the identification information from the ID tag of the carrier (12-i) passing the first transfer devices (40-4, 40-6, 40-8 and 40-9) or the second transfer devices (40-5, 40-7, 40-10 and 40-1), and a host computer (50) which recognizes the position of the carrier (12-i) by acquiring the identification information being read from the ID tag by the reading device.
