METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DESCRIBING TEXTURE FEATURE OF IMAGE, AND ITS MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for describing a texture feature of an image enabling a texture structure present in the image to be intuitively grasped.

SOLUTION: This method includes steps for: (a) filtering input images by using predetermined filters having different directional coefficients; (b) totalizing and normalizing pixel values of the images respectively filtered on axes in predetermined directions in order to obtain data groups comprising averages of the pixel values in the directions; (c) selecting candidate data groups from the data groups by a predetermined classification method; (d) determining a plurality of indicators based on the directional coefficients of the filters used for filtering the candidate groups; and (e) determining a plurality of the indicators as texture descriptors of the images.
