The marine vessel propulsion drive has a rectangular duct under the water surface containing a vertical axis (2) moving to the left and right of the travel direction and carrying a rudder (3) movably fastened to it. The rudder has a smaller area (6) in front of the movement axis and a larger (7) behind it. The duct has sidewalls (5) to trap a water flow between it and the rudder and cause a rearward water movement.
