METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HARMONIC IMAGING USING MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for improving the penetration of the harmonic imaging while preserving the image uniformity. SOLUTION: A harmonic signal relating to a first transmitting event with a center frequency of f1used for a near sound field image has a frequency band centerd on 2f1. A center frequency f2 in a second transmitting event used in a far sound field is close to 2f1and there is a significant overlap in frequency band between signals extracted from the first transmitting event and signals extracted from the second transmitting event. The extracted signal from the second transmitting event is a fundamental component of the received echo, has much larger amplitude than that of the harmonic signal from the first transmitting event, and is added to improve transmissions of harmonic imaging.
