The present invention provides extracts of Stephaniae sinica Diels useful for inhibiting, interfering and/or controlling pathological angiogenesis or neovascularization of tissues. The invention also provides a method to inhibit neovascularization in tissue by delivering to the cell or tissue an effective amount of an extract of Stephaniae sinica Diels. Also providedherein is a method for treating a disease associated with hyperproliferation of endothelial cell and/or neovascularization by administering to a subject an effective amount of an extract of Stephaniae sinica Diels.
