The skin panel mounting for an aircraft has an Armored panel attached to the airframe to resist projectiles or emissions. The modular panel (1) has a groove (2) having at least two through bores (7). A mounting rail (4) is positioned in the groove and has cut outs which can be aligned with the through bores which receive mounting bolts (9). The mounting rail can have a rearward cut out to receive a mounting head for an anchor.
