<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent adverse effects on the life of an HDD due to frequent shift/restoration to/from an energy saving mode and easily inform a user or the like of the life of the HDD or the like, and to provide a program and a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 comprises a disk start/stop detection means 108, a disk start/stop frequency management means 109, a means for restricting the cut-off of power supply to an HDD storage means when the managed frequency of disk start/stop reaches prescribed frequency, a means 113 for displaying/reporting information for warning the life of the HDD disk when the frequency of start/stop approaches the prescribed frequency, a means 114 for displaying/reporting maintenance information related to the life of the HDD disk when the start/stop frequency exceeds the prescribed frequency, and a means 115 for remotely transmitting the maintenance information to a service center when the start/stop frequency approaches the prescribed frequency or exceeds the prescribed frequency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
