PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator provided with a plurality of tie-down devices and capable of surely suppressing jumping-up of a car and a balance weight. SOLUTION: An interlocking mechanism 22 composed of wires 24 arranged coaxially and slidably in the axial direction inside a pair of thin and long tubes 23, respectively, is provided. One end of the wire 24 on one side is connected with a swing link 19 in a connection member 20 of the tie-down device 10 on one side, and the other end of this wire 24 is connected with the swing link 19 of the tie-down device 10 on the other side. One end of the wire 24 on the other side is connected with the swing link 19 of the tie-down device 10 on one side, and the other end of this wire 24 is connected with the connection member 20 of the tie-down device 10 on the other side. When either of the connection members 20 rises for an upper plate 13, two swing links 19 turn in the direction in which a roller 11 is brought into pressure contact with a take-up wheel guide rail 5.
