METHOD FOR PREPARING MESOPHASE CARBON MICROBEADS

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing mesophase carbon microbeads having uniform particle size distribution and less impurities with high yield. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of (a) heat-treating raw pitch(7-12 wt.% of quinoline insolubles) under inert atmosphere at a temperature of 400 to 480 deg.C; and (b) extracting the heated reaction product of the step (a) with quinoline to recover particles, wherein more than 90 wt.% of the recovered particles are within the size range of 10 to 30 micrometers and the residual obtained after extraction is recycled as raw materials.
