PURPOSE: A method is provided to reduce manufacturing procedures and prevent an erroneous discharge by burying the paste for phosphor only in the portion where a phosphor is to be formed. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of forming an address electrode(43) on a first substrate(41) and forming a dielectric layer(45) on the substrate where the address electrode is formed; a second step of forming a barrier rib(47a) on the dielectric layer; a third step of burying a paste(73) for phosphor only in the gap formed between the barrier ribs; and a fourth step of forming a phosphor layer by drying and sintering the paste for phosphor.
