PURPOSE: A method for automatically setting a prefix and a mobile communication terminal realizing prefix setting method are provided to add a prefix corresponding to a telephone number of a receiver from a telephone directory, and to execute a telephone call, thereby easily calling the receiver by automatically adding the prefix to the telephone number of the receiver. CONSTITUTION: A user dials a telephone number of a receiver from a telephone directory(S400). If the telephone number of the receiver is displayed, the user decides whether to execute the call by attaching a prefix or to execute the call without attaching the prefix. A mobile communication terminal decides whether the user selects a hot key for attaching the prefix telephone number(S410). If so, the mobile communication terminal adds the prefix to the selected telephone number of the receiver(S420). If the user selects a specific button for executing the call, the mobile communication terminal transmits the telephone number of the receiver(S430).
