An embedded digitization apparatus for integrating digital message communications onto a first platform comprises: at least two predetermined platform applications which comprise at least a communication application and a data processing application and a single means for sending and receiving the digital message communications between the first platform and at least one external platform and also for exchanging the digital message communications between the least two predetermined platform applications. At least two predetermined platform applications can include a mission application (110, 420), a digital messaging application (150, 440), a time, position and navigation application (120, 140, 430), a weapons application (130, 230, 450), a sensor input processing application (130, 210, 420), an user interface application (460) and an input/output processing application (130). The input/output processing application can comprise at least one at least one output interface for a display; at least one input interface for a point and click apparatus; and interfaces for predetermined associated equipment. The associated equipment can comprise radios, antennae, weapons delivery systems, at least one user output, at least one user input and at least one sensor.
