PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tuning fork type quartz oscillator which maintains excellent oscillation characteristics and promotes miniaturization. SOLUTION: In the tuning fork type quartz oscillator wherein a pair of tuning fork arms with an X axis of crystal axes (XYZ) as a direction of width, a Y axis as a direction of length and a Z axis as a direction of thickness extend from a base part and a cross section of each of said tuning fork arms is H-shaped having a cess 3 in the direction of thickness, the pair of tuning fork arms are H-shaped by laminating quartz pieces of different thickness, a fixed plate composed of the quartz pieces is interposed under the pair of tuning fork arms, and the quartz pieces are joined by direct bonding.
