PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element unit whose structure is simplified. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser 41 is fixed on a base part 22 through a sub mount 32, and a reference optical axis 5 is decided by the semiconductor laser 41. A groove 222 having a U-shaped cross section shape is formed in the fixing part 221. Solder 31 is applied and melted in the groove 222, a collimator lens 42 supported by a supporting arm 61 is shifted to the groove 222. Light beams emitted from the semiconductor laser 41 are guided to an image pickup part 7 through the collimator lens 42, and an image showing the state of the light beam is obtained. The collimator lens 42 is positioned with reference to the reference optical axis 5 based on the image, then, the collimator lens 42 is fixed on the base 22 in a non-contact state with interposing the solder 31 between the base part 22 and the lens 42. Then, the structure of the optical element unit 11 wherein the collimator lens 42 is highly accurately positioned with reference to the reference optical axis 5 is simplified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
