PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding wheel core having small anisotropy in a radial direction. SOLUTION: In the disc-shaped grinding wheel core made of a piece of grinding wheel material formed of hexagonal system, diagonal system, or tetragonal system metallic material, the anisotropy in the radial direction in made to be small so as to make thermal expansion coefficient difference in the radial direction become not more than 1×10<SP>-6</SP>/°C. Consequently, little chatter is generated even at high-speed rotation, and precise machining is enabled. In case that titanium or titanium alloy is used as the metallic material, more precise high-speed grinding machining is enabled. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
