PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a vacuum cleaner small in size or compact in structure by reducing a dimension in one direction on one cross section perpendicular to the axis of a cylindrical wall of a cylindrical container of a cyclone dust collector for the vacuum cleaner. SOLUTION: The cyclone dust collector for the vacuum cleaner is provided with the cylindrical container constituting a dust separation chamber, an intake port for introducing air so as to form a turning air stream inside the cylindrical container, a cylindrical exhaust tube disposed at a center part inside the cylindrical container and an exhaust hole provided on the cylindrical wall of the exhaust tube. Then, the cylindrical wall of the cylindrical container is turned to a flat shape in which one direction on one cross section perpendicular to the axis is the longest dimension and the direction orthogonal to the direction is the shortest dimension.
