The method involves picking up a position pulse, which is used to define a zero time point and which defines a period of head rotation. All time marks of the control signals required for the successive periods are calculated, as is the bit pattern of the control signals corresponding to a time mark. The time marks of the bit pattern are stored. The bit pattern and the corresponding time marks are output in parallel. The suitable circuit for carrying out the method includes a microcontroller and a controllable output memory. The microcontroller has a capture register to capture the position pulse, a timer, a calculating unit and a comparator. The latter compares the target time mark value with the current value from the timer. When these are equal, the output memory outputs the stored data word.
