PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based stick-like bleaching composition excellent in bleaching effect, having good stability and high moisture retention and having refreshing feeling when applied to the skin. SOLUTION: This water-based stick-like bleaching composition is obtained by formulating a water-soluble polyhydric alcohol with a higher fatty acid salt, a water-soluble polymer, purified water and a bleaching agent. L-Ascorbic acids, hydroquinones, cysteines, glucosamines, azelaic acids, lipoic acids, resorcines, glabridins, glutathiones, hinokitiols, ellagic acids, a blastodisc extract or extracts of plants and algae in which a bleaching effect has been known are used as the bleaching agent.
