PURPOSE: A portable terminal device is provided to select a desired item in a closed state, and to display a display surface corresponding to the selected item through an opening operation only, thereby operating a main operator with a small number of operations. CONSTITUTION: An opening/closing state detector detects opening/closing states of the first and second housings(32,34). A controller controls a display screen corresponding to a specific item such that the display screen can be displayed on a display, when an opening operation is performed after the specific item is selected on a selection screen displayed on the display by operating supplementary operators(42,44) when the first and second housings(32,34) are in closed state.
