PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk discriminating device, of which the constitution is simplified to the utmost and also the cost reduction is attained, by constituting so that a rotational position detecting means of a rotary tray and a detecting means of the existence of disk are usable in common. SOLUTION: When the rotary tray 1 is rotated and a light outgoing from a light emitting element 5 hits an inclined reflection surface L, reflected lights are hardly inputted to a light receiving element 4, but the reflected lights of the time hit on a planar reflection surface H are almost inputted to the light receiving element 4, thereby a light of reflected pattern corresponding to an intrinsic number of the disk placing part is received by the light receiving element 4, and the rotational position of the rotary tray 1 is detected. Also, a disk detecting hole 24 is irradiated by the light outgoing from the light emitting element 5, then the existence of the disk 21 on the disk placing part is detected by the existence of the reflected light received by the light receiving element 4.
