The gripper system (4) includes number of grippers (6,7,8) which are disposed in a row such that the grippers define the interspaces. The grippers have hold-downs (13) projecting into the interspaces for holding down the free edge of a printing sheet (15) held by the grippers, such that the hold-downs can be adjusted together with the grippers when gripping the printing sheet. An Independent claim is also included for a sheet-fed printing press.
