PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal oscillator and a semiconductor device capable of reducing production of spurious oscillation without making the manufacturing processes and the circuit configuration complicated. SOLUTION: The oscillator 30 with an externally mounted crystal vibrator 52 is provided with a start circuit 36 and a timer circuit 39 for changing a value of current supplied to a FET 31 for a prescribed time at oscillation start and a time after that. A load circuit 40 comprising a source grounding circuit or the like is connected to the oscillator 30 and the value of current supplied to the load circuit 40 is suppressed. Further, an entire one-chip component 10 including the oscillator 30 and the load circuit 40 is formed by a CMOS process or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
