Ras and Raf represent gene products linked to various types of cancer. The interaction between these protien is believed to be critical to heir activity. The present invention discloses a number of 3,6-dihydroxyxanthenes and oxidized variants thereof that are effective in inhibiting the interaction between Ras and Raf.
