<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of highly accurately positioning a gap between an image carrier and a developer carrier. <P>SOLUTION: In the developing device with a plurality of developing units 38 mounted each of which is provided with 1st and 2nd developing sleeves (developer carriers) S1, S2 and provided with a rotary body to be rotated so that an arbitrary one of these developing units 37 is located on a developing part, the 1st developing sleeve S1 is positioned by the developing unit 37 so that a prescribed gap (a) is formed between the sleeve S1 and a photoreceptor drum (image carrier) 35, and after performing prescribed development by using the sleeve S1, the developing unit 37 is rotated. A position-regulatable regulating member 42 formed on the 2nd developing sleeve S2 is abutted on the drum 35 to form a prescribed gap b between the sleeve S2 and the drum 35. After performing prescribed development by using the sleeve S2, the developing unit 37 or the developing sleeve S2 is retreated up to a position where interference with the drum 35 is not caused. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
