<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular phone with optical character recognizing function capable of reducing wrong read or unreadable ratio in character reading. <P>SOLUTION: When a character recognition is determined impossible (wrong read or unreadable) in a character recognition part 3, a data collation part 4 determines whether a character code determined impossible corresponds to a characteristic character string or not in reference to the information of the characteristic character string stored in a memory 7.
