<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device by which a sensor substrate is surely distorted by surely performing inclination operation of an operating shaft without the slippage of the fingers of an operator performing the inclination operation of the operating shaft. <P>SOLUTION: The coordinate input device comprises: the pillar-shaped operating shaft 2; the sensor substrate 3 formed by fixing the operating shaft 2 at its one end side to the one surface side of the sensor substrate; and a plurality of distortion detecting elements 4 provided on the other side of the sensor substrate 3. One end side of the operating shaft 2 is formed to a columnar shape consisting of a columnar section 2a and the other end side opposite to the one end side is formed to a square pillar shape consisting of a square pillar section 2b.
