PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post treatment apparatus for surely performing binding treatment while paper sheets are aligned regardless of the number and type of paper sheets to be bound. SOLUTION: In the post treatment apparatus, a binding treatment means has a needle driving member for driving a needle into a paper sheet received by a paper sheet placement stand, and a needle reception member for bending the needle for fixing to the paper sheet. The post treatment apparatus comprises a paper sheet placement stand moving means that arranges the needle reception member at the paper sheet placement side of the paper sheet placement stand, arranges the needle driving member at a side opposite to the paper sheet placement side of the paper sheet placement stand, and moves the paper sheet placement stand; and a control means for performing control for moving the paper sheet placement stand by the paper sheet placement stand moving means so that a paper sheet received by the paper sheet placement stand approaches the needle reception member and then performs binding treatment for the paper sheet by the binding treatment means.
