PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition to become a detergent for an impression material, which has high solubility of alginate impression material containing a slightly water-soluble liquid compound and causes no reduction in adhesivity between the impression material and a tray even in repeated use by keeping the contact angle of a metal tray surface low after its use also. SOLUTION: The composition comprises (A) a compound to form a water-soluble chelate compound with a calcium ion such as ethylenediamine tetraacetate, (B) an alkali metal polyphosphate such as sodium tripolyphosphate, etc., in the mass ratio of the component (A) to the component (B) of in the range of 1:0.7-0.05.
