PURPOSE: A silicon optical element, and an image I/O(Input and Output) device are provided to enable an image signal I/O by the unit of pixel by using a silicon optical element which receives and discharges optical signals. CONSTITUTION: The element comprises a base plate(11), an optical element(20), a switch(30), and electrodes(22, 27, 37, 39). The base plate(11) is based on an n type or p type silicon. The optical element(20) includes a doping area, plural semiconductor material areas, and a transistor. The doping area is thinly doped on an area of the base plate(11) for causing an optical receiving or discharging operation. The semiconductor material areas have a stack structure on a back side of the base plate(11). The switch(30) is formed on one side of the optical element(20) by sharing the base plate(11), and makes the optical element(20) selectively receive or discharge a light. The electrodes(22, 27, 37, 39) input or output signals for controlling a light receiving or discharging operation.
