The procedure consists of placing a sheet of a thin, elastic and heat deformable film material (3) between the two halves of a mould pre-heated to 30 - 55 deg C, with the edges of the sheet clamped between the mould halves. A reactive foam-generating mixture is then introduced through the top of the mould, and a partial vacuum is created in the lower section, drawing the sheet material against the surface of the lower half of the mould so that it strictly follows the mould contours to produce highly structures surfaces (8, 9), with the foam filling the whole of the mould cavity between the sheet and the surface of the upper half. After removal from the mould the film material, which is preferably under 60 microns thick, is removed completely, leaving a homogenous moulded component (4).
