PURPOSE: An organic electrolyte solution for a lithium sulfur battery and a lithium sulfur battery employing the electrolyte solution are provided, to reduce the reactivity of an electrolyte solution with lithium and to increase the ion conductivity of lithium ions, thereby improving the capacity and cycle property of the battery. CONSTITUTION: The organic electrolyte solution comprises a lithium salt; an organic solvent containing the compound represented by the formula 1 or its isomers; and optionally at least one compound selected from polyglyme-based compounds and dioxolane-based compound, wherein R1 and R2 are independently a halogen atom, OH, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or alkoxy group of C1-C20, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl, arylalkyl or aryloxy group of C6-C30, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl, heteroarylalkyl or heteroaryloxy group of C2-C30, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group of C5-C20 or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocycloalkyl group of C2-C20. The lithium sulfur battery comprises a cathode containing sulfur or sulfur compounds; an anode; a separator placed between the cathode and the anode; and the organic electrolyte solution. |
