PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode wire for electrical discharge machining having excellent electrical discharge machinability and drawing performance, and a manufacturing method for manufacturing the electrode wire for electrical discharge machining. SOLUTION: In this electrode wire for electrically discharging machining, a Cu-Zn alloy layer 14 is provided on the outer periphery of a core material 11, and at least the surface layer of the core material 11 is provided with a Cu-Zn alloy intermediate layer formed of Cu-Zn alloy, the Zn concentration of which is higher than that of the Cu-Zn alloy constituting the Cu-Zn alloy layer 14.
