摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric material having a high yield and a performance index, a manufacturing method of the thermoelectric material, a mold for plastic working used for manufacturing the thermoelectric material, and a press apparatus for plastic working. SOLUTION: An upsetting apparatus is used as the mold for plastic working where the upsetting apparatus has a base 1, a sleeve 2 that orthogonally crosses the sleeve 2 and has a rectangular parallelepiped cavity inside, and a punch rod 3 formed so that it is inserted into the cavity of the sleeve 2. Then, a starting material 4 of the thermoelectric material is put into the edge of the sleeve 2 so that the starting material comes into contact with one surface of an inner wall inside the sleeve 2 and uniaxial forging is performed where the punch rod 3 is pushed downward and the starting material 4 of the thermoelectric material is subjected to plastic deformation for drawing only in one direction, thus orienting the crystal grain of the thermoelectric material to a crystal orientation having the superior performance index for forming a finished article 5 of the thermoelectric material.
