PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine useful for preventing and/or treating influenzal encephalitis or encephalopathy. SOLUTION: This medicine useful for preventing and/or treating influenzal encephalitis or encephalopathy contains as an active ingredient a pyrazolone derivative represented by formula (I) (R<SP>1</SP>is H, an aryl, an alkyl or an alkoxycarbonylalkyl; R<SP>2</SP>is H, an aryloxy, an arylmercapto, an alkyl or a hydroxyalkyl; or R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>together form a 3 to 5C alkylene; R<SP>3</SP>is H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, a hydroxyalkyl, benzyl, naphthyl, phenyl, or phenyl substituted with identical or different substitutents selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, alkoxy groups, hydroxyalkyl groups, alkoxycarbonyl groups, alkylmercapto groups, alkylamino groups, dialkylamino groups, halogens, trifluoromethyl, carbonyl, cyano, OH, nitro, amino and acetamido).
