DENSITY ADJUSTING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a density adjusting device by which the image of an excellent image quality is formed without causing defective transfer such as the inside void and the outside void of a character or pseudo outline (tone jump) and without causing the insufficiency of a color reproducing area by simultaneously adjusting image density with a target density curve for not only an intermediate density side but also a high density side and a low density side and an image forming apparatus using it.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a density measuring means to measure the image density of a reference pattern formed on a recording medium by the image forming apparatus in a highest density area, a toner density adjusting means to adjust toner density in the developing means of the image forming apparatus based on the measured result of the density measuring means and a correcting means to correct the target value of the density of a reference toner image formed on the image carrier of the image forming apparatus based on the measured result of the density measuring means.
