<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accurate deterioration identifying device of an exhaust gas purifier for an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: The deterioration identifying device of the exhaust gas purifier for the internal combustion engine identifies the deterioration of the exhaust gas purifier provided in an exhaust gas passage of the engine. The identifying device calculates a deterioration identifying parameter showing a deteriorating degree of the purifier by using a value extracted by filtering from the output of a downstream exhaust gas sensor at the downstream of the purifier. Then, the device calculates a state parameter obtained by digitizing the state of the exhaust gas passing the purifier, and calculates a correcting term from the state parameter. The device calculates the deterioration identifying parameter after correction for correcting the deterioration identifying parameter by using the correction term. The device compares the deterioration identifying parameter after the correction with a predetermined threshold, thereby identifying the deterioration of the purifier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
