PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary actuator having a simple and adjustable rotation restricting mechanism to enable easy rotation range adjustment, thereby enhancing versatility and reducing costs. SOLUTION: An engaged portion 4 is placed to protrude from an output shaft gear 2, and an engaging body 5 is placed at a given part on the moving path of the engaged portion 4. The engaged portion 4 of the output shaft gear 2 is in contact with the engaging body 5 at a given angular position to restrict the rotatable angular range of the output shaft gear 2. Thus, the rotatable range of the output shaft gear 2 can be set to a desired value by adjusting the positions of the engaged portion 4 and/or the engaging body 5. This ensures the rotary drive of a rotary shaft 10 of driven equipment under a given condition of the rotary operation to enhance versatility by flexibly responding to the condition for the driven equipment.
