<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for reforming which suppresses the precipitation of a carbonaceous particle and maintains good catalyst activity over a prolonged period. <P>SOLUTION: A porous molding (a catalyst carrier) is impregnated with a water solution containing active ingredients of the catalyst including Ni, Co or the like as well as carrier constituents including Mg, Al, Zr, Ti, Ca or the like so that the active ingredients of the catalyst and the carrier constituents penetrate the porous molding. Thereafter, the porous molding is dried, then fired at a high temperature of 700°C or higher, and activated at a temperature of 500°C or higher, thereby, very fine catalyst particles are highly dispersed in the surface layer of the porous molding. The high dispersion of the catalyst particles prevents the precipitation of the carbonaceous particle on the catalyst surface so that the good catalyst activity can be maintained over a prolonged period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
