PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate maintenance such as the retention and restoration of a function of a head unit and the removal of recording paper causing a jam, in a recorder such as a line inkjet printer and a copying machine. SOLUTION: The head unit 1 is pulled outward from a recorder body in the maintenance of an inkjet head; a maintenance kit 50 for the recorder is mounted; and the operations of the retention and restoration of functions of inkjet heads 10 (10Y, 10M, 10C and 10K) for respective colors are performed by head caps 12 (12Y, 12M, 12C and 12K) through the use of a function of a control part which is provided in the recorder. Additionally, the recording paper 18 is fed from a paper feeding opening 51 of the maintenance kit 50; a nozzle check pattern is printed by the inkjet heads 10 for the respective colors; and a normal state of the inkjet heads 10 is checked on the spot.
